Managing Bookings

Calendar & Availability

Your calendar is the engine of your hosting business. Here is how to manage it effectively.

How Availability Works

By default, all dates on your calendar are available. Dates only become unavailable when:

  • A booking is confirmed (automatically blocked)
  • You manually block dates from your calendar
  • You add a date-specific price override (date remains available but at the override price)

You do not need to open up availability — the default is open. You only need to block the dates you cannot host.

Blocking Dates

To block dates (for personal use, maintenance, family visits, etc.):

  1. Go to Host Dashboard → Calendar
  2. Select the date or date range you want to block
  3. Tap Block and add an optional note (visible only to you)
  4. Blocked dates show as unavailable to guests immediately

Important: Blocking dates on a confirmed booking is not possible. If you need to cancel a confirmed booking, use the Cancel Booking option in the booking details — this triggers the standard cancellation policy and may affect your host standing.

Price Overrides

You can set a custom price for specific dates — useful for festivals, long weekends, or off-season deals.

  1. Go to Calendar → select a date
  2. Choose Set Price Override
  3. Enter the custom price for that night
  4. The override applies only for that specific date

Price overrides affect the GST slab — if your base rate is under ₹7,500 but you override a festival night to ₹9,000, that night will be charged at 18% GST instead of 5%.

Weekend Pricing

In your pricing settings, you can set a Weekend Multiplier — a percentage increase applied automatically to Friday and Saturday nights. For example, a 1.3× multiplier on a ₹3,000/night property sets Friday/Saturday to ₹3,900/night automatically.

Weekly and Monthly Discounts

Reward longer stays with automatic discounts:

  • Weekly discount — applied to bookings of 7+ nights
  • Monthly discount — applied to bookings of 28+ nights

Set these percentages in your pricing settings. They apply to the subtotal before GST.

Instant Book vs. Request to Book

This setting controls how bookings are confirmed:

  • Instant Book — guest pays and booking is confirmed immediately. Your calendar updates automatically. No action needed from you.
  • Approve All Bookings — guest sends a request. You have 24 hours to accept or decline. If you do not respond, the request auto-declines and the guest is fully refunded. Your calendar does not block the dates until you accept.

Minimum and Maximum Stay

You can set minimum and maximum night requirements in your listing settings. Common uses:

  • Minimum 2 nights for weekend bookings (to avoid one-night turnovers)
  • Minimum 7 nights during peak season
  • Maximum 30 nights for short-stay listings (long stays require additional documentation)

Tips for a Healthy Calendar

  • Block dates as early as possible — a last-minute block on a date where a request arrives will lead to you having to decline
  • Keep your check-in and check-out times set accurately — they appear in the booking confirmation
  • Review your calendar weekly to catch any inconsistencies
